Andrew Stevenson is Senior Colorectal Surgeon, Clinical Professor in surgery at University of Queensland and and past Head of the Colorectal Surgery department at Royal Brisbane Hospital and Honorary Associate of the National Health and Medical Research Council Clinical Trials Centre in Sydney, Australia. Prof Stevenson has been the principal investigator for a number of multi centre trials on minimal invasive colorectal surgery including ALaCaRT comparing laparoscopic with open surgery for rectal cancer and the new trial of robotic v. laparoscopic colectomy - RoLaCaRT Andrew has been closely involved in the international consensus forums for a number of minimally invasive procedures including ventral rectopexy, transanal TME for rectal cancer, complete mesocolic excision for colon cancer and fluorescence-guided surgery. Along with the team in Brisbane, Andrew has conducted over 200 workshops on minimally invasive techniques and and now conducts regular masterclasses on advanced laparoscopic colorectal surgery including transanal TME, ventral rectopexy and robotics both locally and overseas. Andrew has pioneered and championed both ventral rectopexy and transanal TME, laparoscopy and robotics in Australasia, and has been an early adopter and enthusiast for the development of fluorescence-guided complex minimally-invasive surgery. Prof Stevenson is past Chair of the ANZ Training Board in Colorectal Surgery and recently awarded the distinguished Honorary Fellow of the American Society of Colorectal Surgery and Honorary Fellow Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand.
