Dr. Yunus Gul obtained his primary medical qualification from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He completed his Pre-Fellowship Surgical Training Programme in Dublin in 1994. Dr. Yunus then moved to the United Kingdom for his postgraduate surgical specialty training which he completed in London on the St. Mary’s, Hammersmith & Associated Hospitals Specialist Surgical Rotation. He obtained his Surgical Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (United Kingdom & Ireland) in 1999. He returned to Kuala Lumpur at the end of 1999 and was employed in University Putra Malaysia as a Consultant General & Colorectal Surgeon. Dr. Yunus was subsequently the Head of the Department of Surgery from 2001 to 2007 and he was promoted to the chair of Professor of Surgery in June 2003 and was subsequently the Deputy Dean of the Medical Faculty from 2004 to 2007. He received a Federal Award from His Royal Highness, the King of Malaysia in 2012. His main specialty interest is in Colorectal and Minimally Invasive (Laparoscopic) Surgery. Dr. Yunus is the Past President of the Asean Society of Colorectal Surgeons, Malaysian Society of Colorectal Surgeons and Malaysian Society of Gastroenterology & Hepatology. His current surgical practise is at Gleneagles & Prince Court Medical Centre, Kuala Lumpur. .
