Dr Cherylin Fu has been a senior consultant surgeon under the Department of Colorectal Surgery at the Singapore General Hospital since 2012. She is also a consultant in Surgical Oncology at the National Cancer Centre, Singapore, as well as the Director of Pelvic Floor Disorders at the Singapore General Hospital. She obtained her medical degree from the National University of Singapore in 2004 and completed her advanced specialist training in colorectal surgery under the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh in 2012. She went on to do her colorectal fellowship in Brisbane, Australia from 2013 to 2014, pursuing her interests in Pelvic Floor Disorders and Advanced Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery. She routinely manages colorectal cancer, benign colorectal diseases and proctology, and has a keen interest in advanced laparoscopic techniques such as Transanal Total Mesorectal Excision (taTME) for rectal cancer. She is also a specialist in pelvic floor disorders such as rectal prolapse and faecal incontinence, helming weekly multidisciplinary pelvic floor clinics as the Director of the service. She regularly performs endoanal ultrasound and anorectal physiology tests as part of her expertise in pelvic floor disorders and is highly experienced in surgical procedures for rectal prolapse. Dr Fu is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical teaching and is part of the Core Faculty of the SingHealth Surgical Residency Program. Apart from speaking regularly at various local and international conferences, she also organises annual public forums and campaigns in order to raise awareness on colorectal cancer and pelvic floor disorders in Singapore. She has actively participated in the Society of Colorectal Surgeons, Singapore since 2010 and was a committee member in 2022.
