Dr. Hizami Amin-Tai is a General and Colorectal Surgeon at the Universiti Putra Malaysia Medical and Health Sciences Faculty, where he serves as the Head of the Surgical Department. His clinical practice is mainly based in the UPM's Hospital Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah. He has a particular interest in managing colorectal cancer, and anorectal fistula, and has dabbled in peritoneal surface malignancies management. Dr. Hizami completed the Malaysian subspecialty training in colorectal surgery which also included an advanced clinical fellowships in colorectal diseases and peritoneal surface malignancies at Kent Hospital, Izmir, Turkey. Over the years, Dr. Hizami has gained diverse clinical experience in Malaysia and abroad, starting his foundation training in Scotland within the Greater Glasgow & Clyde hospital network. He then joined UPM 15 years ago, and has worked in various hospitals in Malaysia throughout his career progression. His clinical expertise is complemented by his academic contributions as a medical lecturer, course coordinator, and supervisor for postgraduate surgical trainees. As a life member of the Malaysian Society of Colorectal Surgeons, Dr. Hizami is actively involved in advancing surgical education and colorectal care nationally.
