Dr. Shunsuke Tsukamoto is an Assistant Chief and Center Chief at the National Cancer Center Hospital, Tokyo, Japan, where he leads the Robotic Surgery Center and the Department of Colorectal Surgery. He has extensive experience in colorectal surgery, with a focus on robotic and minimally invasive procedures. Dr. Tsukamoto completed his Ph.D. in Medicine from the Graduate School of Tokyo Medical and Dental University in 2012, investigating colorectal cancer biomarkers. He holds an M.D. from the University of Yamagata, graduating in 2001. His clinical expertise is complemented by significant involvement in professional societies, including the Japan Surgical Society, the Japanese Society of Gastroenterological Surgery, Japan Society of Coloproctology, and the Japan Robotic Surgery Society. A skilled researcher, Dr. Tsukamoto has published numerous influential papers in leading medical journals, particularly focusing on colorectal cancer and innovative surgical techniques. His work has earned recognition, including the 2018 Highly Commended Paper award from the Japanese Journal of Clinical Oncology.Dr. Tsukamoto is an active member of the Japan Clinical Oncology Group and serves on the Steering Committee for Colorectal Cancer. His contributions to the field are also evident through his leadership in several high-profile international surgical conferences and his work as a reviewer board member for the Japanese Journal of Clinical Oncology .
